Thank you, Hepburn Wind community
Last night the good people at the Hepburn Wind Annual General Meeting in Daylesford elected me to their Board. Congratulations to Almut Beringer and Peter Rogers, who were also elected to the 9 member Board.
The AGM was a long one but a good one.
Rob Gell, who is a pioneering Australian environmental advocate, gave a great keynote speech, updating us on the state of climate science. He praised the efforts of Hepburn Wind and reminded us that global biophysical trends are all dire.
Rob says that now we have installed our turbines and are well on the way to generating power, our next task is to get the message out. As he made clear, the challenge ahead is about social change, not climate change.
The new and continuing Board members are highly experienced in electricity and other businesses and organisations. The work they donate is crucial to the success of the company. I am glad to make Hepburn Wind a key client for my Pro bono work.
I am keen to start working with the Board and staff. There is a great deal I want to learn from them about the wind business and the local community. I hope that I can make a valuable contribution to the social change side of our enterprise.
This is my first board appointment.
Cheers, Josh.
