Jamie Parker wins seat of Balmain for the Australian Greens party
An SMS has just come in, telling me that Jamie Parker has won the NSW state seat of Balmain for the Greens, by 201 votes.
I have known Jamie Parker since we were both at University, in about 1996, when the Greens were almost nowhere as a national force. He has been a true believer in the values of the Greens all these years.
If you want an insight into Jamie’s character, consider how long and hard he has worked to get where he is today.
I also know from talking to Jamie that he wants to know more about the renewable energy transition and become involved in it.
Hopefully the NSW Greens will focus their strategies around positive, popular campaigns such as clean energy, in which case the new member for Balmain can expect to have a bright Parliamentary future ahead of him.
