Clean Energy Future discussion papers released

The Government has released 2 important discussion papers about how it intends to implement the Clean Energy Future (CEF) package.

Australia’s renewable energy and efficiency industries should make sure they respond effectively to both papers and also make their position known (in simple terms) in the media. This is crucial, becuase the polluters are funding public campaigns against the CEF as a concept and also working hard to undermine its operations.

The Clean Technology Programs (CTP) Discussion Paper was released to participants at yesterdays consultation session in Melbourne.

This covers $1.2 billion to manufacturers as grants to help pay for energy efficiency meansures. It is not supposed to be compensation for the carbon price, but that is what some polluters will try to use it for.

The link on the Department website is down but its also here.

The Large-Scale Solar Deployment in Australia Discussion Paper is the Government’s response to its July roundtable with the solar industry. Download it here.
