Brightsource raises US$200 million for solar thermal
Brightsource is the company behind Ivanpah, a 392 MW solar thermal plant under construction in California. This week Brightsource announced that is has raised another tranche of equity, totaling US$200 million, from current and new investors.
My clients are keen supporters of solar thermal power, because it is the only renewable energy technology with integrated ‘baseload’ capacity. US President Barack Obama has set American a ‘SunShot’ goal, that by the start of the next decade, solar thermal baseload will be at grid parity.
This is the biggest game changer in the political economy of cleantech.
